Think about this:

"Something as small as the flutter of a butterfly's wing can ultimately cause a typhoon halfway around the world" -The Butterfly Effect

Consider the weight of that statement for a minute. For example, if you stared at the ceiling for ten seconds right now everything you then do from that moment on will be delayed by ten seconds. Let's say you drive to work afterwards and catch a light you wouldn't have normally been stopped at. Then as you start to move some prick decides to run the red light and smashes into the side of your car. Consider if you didn't wait ten seconds you'd have gotten the green and never have wrecked your car. Now let's say while your car is in the shop you have to postpone a date with somebody you have never been on a date with before. Let's say the bad first impression created by this ruins your chance of getting in any good relationship with them and then years later when you WOULD have been married to them if only you'd have hit it off at first, they win the lottery. Now that ten seconds on wasted time has cost you millions of dollars AND your soul mate AND your car AND whatever it cost to repair it.

While I was pondering all of this it hit me:

If a butterfly wing can cause a typhoon what can 6 billion self interested people do?

What have you done that is amazing.

In this world, we tend to focus on the negative things. We wonder why all of these bad things in the world are happening. While we were busy fretting over all these bad things we missed so, so many good things. I ask any readers out there to please please do ONE thing for me. Take the next 30 minutes of your day and consider some of the amazing things in the world. Below I have linked several videos that show ordinary people doing extra ordinary things for extra ordinary causes. If you know of or think of any other amazing things PLEASE leave a comment with a link.

This man believes in what he is doing. Despite how foolish he seemed at first, he has improved his life. Try not to judge things to harsh.

Now this is even more amazing. This man is rowing a boat across the Atlantic Ocean to raise a million dollars for cancer research. What have you done lately?

People do things for other people that can be very touching.

This is the song that encompases all of these feelings.

"I've been spending way too long checking my tongue in the mirror
And bending over backwards just to try to see it clearer
But my breath fogged up the glass
And so I drew a new face and laughed
I guess what I'm be saying is there ain't no better reason
To rid yourself of vanity and just go with the seasons
It's what we aim to do
Our name is our virtue

But I won't hesitate no more, no more
It cannot wait I'm yours

Well open up your mind and see like me
Open up your plans and damn you're free
Look into your heart and you'll find that the sky is yours"

THANKS FOR READING

My Scariest Nightmare - The Uninvited Contest

Just for the record, I don't really care about the competition, or the xanga credits for that matter, but the scariest nightmare seems like an interesting premise to write a blog about. So when I saw it I was like "hey, why not"

The scariest nightmare I ever had (to me) is proof that there is a spiritual realm capable of passing information or other things to people given the right circumstances. My nightmare is not only a nightmare but a recurring nightmare that I had from the entire time that was 5-12 years old. I think the fact that it still holds such a strong impression for me is part of the reason that it is so scary.

The dream takes place in the house I lived in when I first went into Kindergarten. I was playing in my brother's room but for some reason none of the furniture was in it and all of the sudden I hear a voice that said "Do you wanna die now or later" and I would get scared and say later. I opened the closet and all that was there was a chain hanging from the ceiling but then I look up to follow the chain and there is a strange monkey like thing there and it growls and gets ready to pounce on me. I run out into my living room where I knock something over making a mess. My mom says in the same demonic voice "Do you wanna die now or later." Terrified I run outside where I see my dad's truck. He was a carpenter so sometimes he would cut wood in the back of it. I could see a never ending plank of wood coming out the back of his truck stretching as far as the eye can see. And strangely I could not see him sitting in the truck just the wood coming out the back of it. It struck me as odd so I turned around to see my mom standing in the doorway who once again said "Do you wanna die now or later." Again scared I said later. I turned back to my dads truck to see everything had returned to normal. The truck was all that was sitting there. Still no dad, but no wood either. I walked out into the yard for some reason, maybe to investigate the strange thing I had seen. I saw my brother coming from down the street with a few neighborhood kids to play and I pretty much forgot about the strange things that happened. He asked me to go inside and get a ball so I turned toward the door but in the middle of my yard was a gigantic tiger striped tree with no limbs, just a massive trunk stretching straight into the sky. Obviously, baffled by the newest addition to my yard, I turned back toward my brother to ask what it was. He merely looked at me strange so I turned back to look at it again, but it was gone. Then I heard the voice again "Do you wanna die now or later." I started crying because I thought it would never end. The voice sensing that I had not given an answer said once again "Do you wanna die now or later" I continued to cry and got on my knees. I felt a sharp pain in the back of my neck and heard screams and other cries. I fell face down on the ground with my eyes shut tight. After it seemed all the commotion was over I decided to peak to see what happened. I opened my eyes a little to see directly next to me was the corpse of my brother. Only he was different, older, (when I had the dream I had never seen him like that before) a teenager. He was blue in the face and rigid. His right palm had a large open wound on it. I was terrified by the sight and woke up.

Years later after my brother died by drowning at the same age he was in the image of my dream I asked to see his body. He was rigid and had a large open wound on his right palm from where he fell.

I just blogged about my scariest nightmare to enter The Uninvited Scariest Nightmare Contest for 1,000 credits. You can earn free credits too! Brought to you by The Uninvited - In Theaters January 30th.

memory lane

What was your first childhood memory? Was it good or bad? I've been thinking a lot in terms of memory lane as of late. I think that memory lane has a way of holding onto you and making you stay there.

My first memory was when I was two years old. My family was just moving into a new apartment and remembered how much I hated it because I had to share a bed with my brother. I don't remember the place that I lived before there, but I remember that I didn't have to share a bed. After a few months of living at this place me and my brother had reached a new level of closeness though. Being forced to be in such close quarters with each other made it so that we were either going to love one another or hate one another and I guess we chose love. As strange as it sounds the first time we were ever really in trouble together is very important to me. We were playing with fire (I've always been a pyro). I was only 2 and he was only 5 so we couldn't operate lighters or matches, but we were inventive. We used the pilot light for the water heater to set things on fire with instead.

Please, feel inspired- tell us all your first memories

salvia

On new years day, I tripped on Salvia for the first time. I felt that it was a profound experience that when I describe it, it will speak for itself. Are you ready?

First off for those of you who do not know what salvia is, it is a (suprisingly legal) hallucinogenic herb. It is actually a cousin of sage. You can buy salvia at a lot of smoke shops. It comes in several potencies ranging from something that will just give you a buzz, to a full on self journey or religious experience. I got the self journey kind :)

After taking a good hard rip off of my bubbler the first thing I noticed was the AWFUL taste. This is not for non-smokers. The smoke is very harsh and you probably will get nothing out of it if you are not good at hitting a bowl hard and holding it for a long time. Me, being a long time smoker decided to hold it in for as long as I can. Then all at once it hit me like a mental shotgun. I started giggling and felt a euphoria similar to the kind you would expect from some really good weed. Then right in front of my eyes all of my friends around me started to melt into the object nearest to them. Soon I was all alone in the room so I decided to look around. That however was interupted by the fact that directly to my left was a giant grand canyon style cliff. For some reason it started to draw me in and I feared falling off of it. Luckily I knew that I was sitting near a doorway before I took my hit so I looked for it. Much to my discomfort as well the doorway had also melted into the wall and all that was left was an endless wall. Enough of my mental facilities were in order though to know that I could probably still grab it even though I couldn't see it. So I reached out and grabbed the ledge and my hand started melting into the wall. It was convienent however because I felt that melting into the wall saved me. Yes, to sum that up "I saved myself from falling off a cliff by melting into the wall." Then I decided to talk for the first time in my trip. I started telling everybody that I found the edge of the wall hoping they would understand how profound that was (they didn't) then I looked back one more time and the wall where my hand had melted into had turned the color of my shirt. Which if you watch the video at the end of this post you will see would be quite interesting. Then I worried about my peice all of the sudden, because I happen to love my bubbler. So I asked James where my bubbler, then they took advantage of my state by asking me random ass questions and the rest of the video you see I give incoherant answers to coherance questions. And for the record by "You have a president slash wall there" really meant that he was sort of sitting in the doorway and his hand was melted into the wall still and I couldn't see how many fingers it was. But then after I realized what I said I started coming down quickly because I wanted to explain that to everyone and the more logic I tried to throw in my head the quicker the trip subsided. So without further ado... This is my salivia trip
